A community affair at Orchard Grove event

Members of the business community met at an event at the new Orchard Grove development in Comeytrowe, following the recent launch of the dual-branded marketing suite and new show homes. Vistry Group, which includes Bovis Homes and Linden Homes, in joint venture with LiveWest, the South Wests’ largest housing association, is part of a consortium responsible for delivering this long awaited flagship development. Orchard Grove will feature 2,000 homes within two neighbourhoods, a business park, primary school, local centre, park and bus service, plus 100 acres of open green space that will include allotments, play areas and sports pitches. The event – attended by the Mayor of Taunton, local councillors and members of the business community – provided guests with the opportunity to hear more about the project, ask questions and view the development, while enjoying some refreshments from the local Rumwell Farm Shop and Café. The Mayor of Taunton, Councillor Sue Lees commented: “This is not only a very impressive, attractive housing development, but much more. I am sure it will provide a real sense of community as well as bringing economic benefit to the local area.” Vistry Western’s managing director, Emma Colin, commented: “The launch has been a real milestone for Orchard Grove and it was wonderful to welcome the local business community to our new marketing suite, where they could see the development taking shape and ask any questions they may have. “We’re looking forward to working with the community on this exciting project where we’ll be creating many new homes for local people, which we hope means extra customers in the shops, more children attending local schools, and many thriving businesses.” Simon Hawketts, strategic land director at LiveWest, said: “As the largest registered provider of affordable homes in the south west, LiveWest are very proud to be working in joint venture with Vistry in building much needed housing here in Comeytrowe, Taunton. “Through our partnership and with the assistance of the Homes England Grant Funded Programme, this development will deliver 291 homes for rent and shared ownership, which is double the number of affordable homes originally consented.
