Grassroots football boost for South Yorkshire youngsters

- 13 Sep 21

Back of the net! South Yorkshire youngsters have received a welcomed boost to their plans for the new season– thanks to sponsorship from developer Bovis Homes. The housebuilder, which along with Linden Homes forms part of Vistry Group, has extended its support of grassroots football to Bramley Sunnyside Juniors Football Club. The club’s U9s Team, managed by Paul Walton, will be kick starting the 2021/22 season with a brand-new home kit. Paul said: “The past 18 months have been difficult for everyone, not least our youngsters - who along with so many others have had their training and match days disrupted due to the pandemic. “Grassroots football is such an important part of our community, not only for the players but for the many parents, supporters and volunteers who help to create a safe, fun and nurturing environment. “Our huge thanks to Bovis Homes for their support in providing this fabulous new kit which will see us well into 2022.” As part of the Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League (SDJSL), the club runs boy’s teams for players aged 6-16. It’s girl’s teams (from U8s to U14s) compete in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Women & Girls League (SHWGL). Vistry Yorkshire regional managing director Scott Stothard said: “We are delighted to be able to support grassroots football locally, not only the young footballers, their coaches, parents and supporters, but the families living in the communities where we are building in South Yorkshire. “It has been great to see grass roots football and other sporting activities – vital in providing so many young people with not only physical but mental wellbeing, resume to their near normal levels following the lifting of restrictions. We wish Paul and the team the very best for the forthcoming season.” Bovis Homes and Linden Homes currently have a number of developments in the region, for details visit www.bovishomes.co.uk or www.lindenhomes.co.uk/yorkshire
