Housebuilding quartet raises thousands for children’s hospices

- 22 Sep 21

Four senior directors at Essex-based housebuilder Vistry Eastern have raised £10,270 for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) by tackling a 57km charity trek along the south coast. The quartet took part in the walk from Eastbourne to Hove – part of the South Coast Challenge 2021 – on Saturday 4 September in aid of the charity. The Vistry Eastern team of managing director Rob Church, technical director Paul Myall, build director Mark Imray, and commercial director Jon Williams completed the route along the Sussex coast and through the South Downs over the 57km course. EACH, which is supported by its royal patron the Duchess of Cambridge, runs hospices in Cambridgeshire, Norwich and Ipswich, and offers care and support for children with life-threatening conditions across East Anglia and their families. Rob Church, managing director of Vistry Eastern, said: “Taking on the South Coast Challenge was a huge test for the team but there was a great sense of pride and accomplishment as we crossed the finish line after 57km of some of the best coastal views in the country. “Tackling the challenge to raise money for EACH gave us all the extra boost we needed to keep going through the tough stretches, knowing how many people had sponsored our journey and that our fundraising would go towards such a worthy cause. “We are naturally very proud to be able to handover more than £10,000 of fundraising money to EACH, highlighting the true cause behind this challenge.” Billie Race, EACH corporate fundraiser, said: “Congratulations to the team from Vistry Eastern for completing their South Coast Challenge. We are thrilled they have chosen to support EACH through their fundraising and the valuable money raised will go towards our vital services supporting local families at a time when they need it most. “EACH is a lifeline to so many families at an unimaginably difficult time – offering care and support in the family home, in hospital or at one of three hospices. “Support of local businesses makes a real difference to the work we do – put simply we couldn’t run our services without support from companies like Vistry Eastern. A big thank you to everyone who took part for supporting EACH.” Of the £10,270 raised by Vistry Eastern’s team, the largest donation came via Simply Money Limited, the Ipswich-based company who contributed £1,240 towards the fundraising total. Chris Whitley, Director of Simply Money Ltd, said: “We too have supported charities including EACH in past fundraising challenges and were only too pleased to throw our support behind the team at Vistry Eastern ahead of the South Coast Challenge, which we’re delighted to learn they successfully completed. A huge congratulations from all of the team at Simply Money on their efforts.” The Vistry Eastern team has created a Just Giving page where donations can be made at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/vistry-housebuilding-eastern3 Vistry Eastern is part of the Vistry Group which comprises Bovis Homes, Linden Homes and Vistry Partnerships. Based in Chelmsford, the division is currently building new homes at developments across East Anglia. For more information, visit lindenhomes.co.uk/eastern and bovishomes.co.uk.
