Interiors influencer celebrates first anniversary in her ‘beautiful’ new-build home

Celebrating the first anniversary in her new home, Emma Lissimore is still as much in love with her new-build property as the first time she laid eyes on it. A year since completion, Emma, 26 and her partner Tom, 27, son Oliver, 3 and Mollie, the chihuahua, have loved transforming their Bovis Homes’ Spruce into a home and love the community feel that’s been created at The Steadings in Essington. Emma, who has documented the whole journey – from reservation to moving in – on Instagram, @oursprucehomex, previously @aspenhousex, wanted to share her positive experience purchasing a new-build property. “There is a lot of negative stigma around new-builds and I wanted to show people that I’d found the perfect house with Bovis Homes. The whole process was bliss, from start to finish, and we were kept updated throughout. “I have absolutely loved transforming my house into a beautiful home for me and my family to create and enjoy so many memories together. “Here we are, 12 months later, and I still have to pinch myself that it’s all ours.” Instagram has become a labour of love for Emma and, with over 7,000 followers, she’s built a loyal community who have enjoyed watching Emma and her family turn the ‘blank canvas’ of their new-build home into a masterpiece. “The best part of sharing our journey online is having followers tag me or send me their photos after taking inspiration from my home,” said Emma. “People have messaged me to ask for my advice, not only in regard to interior choices but also the build process and the purchasing side of things before they speak to their sales consultant. You name it; they ask, and I answer. “People become so invested in home buying journeys and I love it. I have found so many friendships through this beautiful community.” As well as documenting her own journey, Emma uses Instagram to draw inspiration for her interiors. As well as following other Bovis home owners, including those with the same house type as herself, one celebrity lifestyle content creator – who Emma counts as one of her own followers – is a particular inspiration. “There are endless Instagram accounts I have drawn inspiration from,” said Emma. “The one and only Mrs Hinch, @mrshinchome, is a massive inspiration to me. Her home account is so inspiring, entertaining and motivating. “My other must follow accounts are @houseofholcroft, @_homebylaura and @missgreedyshome.” During the government lockdown, residents at the development weren’t able to meet each other properly but kept in touch online via a group chat Emma created. “Our community at The Steadings is great. I know a lot of the neighbours now and we keep in touch regularly. We’re all arranging a street party to meet properly as we all have a mutual love – our homes, our Bovis Homes.” The Steadings, located in the Staffordshire village of Essington, offers a stunning collection of two, three and four-bedroom homes.
