Lorraine finally fulfils her dream of living in Wells

- 01 Dec 21

For some, moving to your perfect location is just a pipedream. After the various lockdowns, Lorraine has made sure she’s exactly where she wants to be and has moved to a new home at Bovis Homes’ Priory Fields development in Wells. She bought the two bedroom Amberley home, which she calls her “little house on the prairie” and is now closer to her family and works for a local insurance broker. Commenting on her move, Lorraine said: “I’ve always wanted to be in Wells, it’s such a beautiful city with so much going on. I previously lived in Bridgwater and bought a new three bedroom townhouse there in 2013. However, during the lockdowns I felt it was the right time for me to downsize, I didn’t need that much space and the location wasn’t quite right for my needs. “I wanted to be closer to work so moving to Wells was an added bonus, especially as my two sons live here, and my daughter’s just in Street. I also have my dogs, Jasmine and Bailey, which are so much fun to be around. “I’m really happy to be living in Wells and it’s been something I’ve been keen to do for a while, so to have finally made the move is a great feeling. I’ve really fulfilled a big part of my plan. “There are quite a lot of places to walk the dogs, which I love to do.” However, it wasn’t just the location that was important to Lorraine. She added: “I love new homes and I’ve always bought new. Not only are they low maintenance, which really appealed to me as I live on my own and I don’t want to be replacing the boiler and replastering rooms, but the reassurance you have knowing everything has been done is wonderful – everything is manageable for me now. “I have a beautiful open plan home, with a spare room for family or guests. It ticks all the boxes for me and it fits in with my life and routine. I often walk with the dogs at the weekend and like exploring the forest and woodland towards Wookey Hole. My neighbours are friendly too, it already feels like a community and as I live in a terrace, I like to tell them I’m the piggy in the middle! “The whole process of buying a new home has been fun, especially choosing my own kitchen and tiles, and there is an exceptional team on site. I’ve been so grateful to John, the site manager, he’s been amazing and has gone out of his way to help. Mike and Rocha, the sales consultants, have also been brilliant and really held my hand throughout.” She added: “I’ll never forget moving day, receiving the keys and opening the front door was the best feeling. Everything was pristine; there were no marks on walls; everything was so fresh and clean; and it had that lovely new smell. I stopped in my tracks and thought ‘this is my house, this is my home.’ “I feel really settled in Wells, especially as I have my wonderful children nearby and work is approximately five minutes in the car or a 25 minute walk. I also play in the local ladies skittle team, which is great fun – it’s been a fantastic move for me!” Sales and marketing director, Sue Scholfield commented: “It’s an amazing feeling when you achieve an ambition like Lorraine has done. We’ve all done it – imagined something that would be life changing – but to actually make that dream come true is fantastic. It’s wonderful to hear that community life is so rich and we hope Lorraine, Bailey and Jasmine are very happy in their new home.” Priory Fields is a new development of two, three and four bedroom homes, located in the heart of Somerset in the charming city of Wells. There are currently three and four bedroom houses available from £389,995, or from £200,000 with the part-rent-part-buy Home Reach scheme, with a 50 per cent share.
