Personality is key to sales success say new-build recruits

- 19 Apr 21

With a wealth of experience in the housebuilding sector, two new sales consultants praise a national housebuilder’s supportive welcome and look forward to helping home hunters find their dream property in Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire. Jessica Paine and Karen Mancer, who recently joined the West Midlands sales team, are currently working at Bovis Homes’ Silverstone Leys, Silverstone and Hampton Meadow, Stadhampton locations respectively. As part of the wider team, they’re also responsible for assisting colleagues at other nearby Bovis Homes and Linden Homes locations. Bringing their acute knowledge of the industry, plus bags of experience in sales, Jessica and Karen believe personality and building good relationships is the key to being a successful sales consultant. “I believe being a good listener and being able to build rapport with people from all walks of life makes for a good salesperson,” said Jessica. “It’s important to be able to adapt and understand your approach, whether you’re with a first-time buyer and a mature purchaser.” “Personality is so important,” added Karen. “Having a professional yet warm, caring and positive approach to every customer that walks through the door, making a great first impression, sets up the foundations of a happy customer journey.” Jessica, who lives in Northampton town centre, began her sales career as an estate agent before becoming a mortgage advisor and then a car salesperson at Audi. Realising it was the best fit and what she enjoyed doing most, she returned to selling homes and joined Vistry Group after the company was recommended to her by a friend. While Karen, who began her career at the BBC and then as a PA for a media law firm representing clients such as David Beckham, Spice Girls and Queen before working in sales, has been applying her own experience of purchasing a new-build to the role. She’s making the most of her new countryside location in Aylesbury following a move from London. “Buying my own new-build set me on the path to becoming a sales consultant,” said Karen. “I thought the job looked enjoyable and rewarding – and would be the right fit for me. Following my interview, I was so excited about the possibility of a career at Vistry and I have not been disappointed.” “My line manager, Katy, has been supportive and ensured I have everything to flourish in my role here. “I’ve been overwhelmed by how helpful and approachable everyone has been, no matter how big or small the query is, which is so important when navigating your way around a new role. Jessica added: “Colleagues are always at the end of the phone. The induction was good and have enjoyed a meet and greet with the administrative team and the sales director.” Due to the surging demand in the UK property market, the West Midlands sales and marketing team are busier than ever and Adrian Wood, sales and marketing director, is delighted that the pair are on board to put their skills and expertise into action. Adrian said: “We’re thrilled to have Jessica and Karen join us and I’m glad they’re settling into their new roles well. “Our locations across the region have proved extremely popular with house hunters and I’m in no doubt that their wealth of knowledge and experience will play a massive part in continuing our success.” Bovis Homes and Linden Homes offer a collection of two–five-bedroom homes at a number of locations across Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire, including Hampton Meadow in Stadhampton and Silverstone Leys in Silverstone.
