Site manager Ian says family inspired him as he wins second major housebuilding quality award

A site manager in Northampton who took inspiration from his family has won a major housebuilding award for quality excellence for the second time. Ian Andrews, who works at Vistry Group’s Collingtree Park in Collingtree, where two show homes have launched, received the National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Quality Award 2021 after being picked from more than 10,000 site managers across the UK. Ian has worked as a site manager for 15 years and his 25-year-old son Ben also works in site management. Ian’s grandad, a carpenter, and his wife, Sharon, a sales negotiator, worked in the industry too. Ian, who also won a Pride in the Job Quality Award in 2019, said: “I’m extremely proud of this Quality Award win, it’s what you strive for as a site manager and it feels great to have achieved a second one. Collingtree Park is an impressive location and will look fantastic when it’s finished. The team here is superb and we always put quality and customers at the forefront of our work. “My grandad was a carpenter, my wife a sales negotiator for many years and my son is also in site management – it’s definitely something that’s in the blood.” Collingtree Park includes Bovis Homes and Linden Homes and will eventually add around 1,000 homes to the area alongside neighbourhood facilities. Two new show homes launched last month, and house hunters can visit the three-bedroom Cypress and four-bedroom Maple homes with Covid-safe viewings available on an appointment-only basis. Adrian Wood, Vistry West Midlands sales and marketing director, said: “We’re delighted with Ian and his team’s achievement at Collingtree Park, where homes are proving very popular. This is going to be such an inspiring development and the work being carried out there is to the highest of standards, this Quality Award reflects that.” From a field of more than 10,000, 450 site managers have won a Quality Award in the first round of NHBC’s Pride in the Job Awards 2021. This represents the top 5 per cent of those who entered and is testament to their commitment to deliver quality homes for their customers. Pride in the Job, first launched over forty years ago, is the most highly regarded competition in the housebuilding industry. Judging for the awards is rigorous, with the current competition beginning in July 2020 and each site manager assessed across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety. Steve Wood, NHBC chief executive said: “Pride in the Job has been pivotal in improving the quality of new homes for more than 40 years. Despite the numerous challenges the industry has faced, the very best site managers of 2021 have remained focused on delivering high quality new homes for their customers. “At NHBC we are very proud of Pride in the Job, what it stands for and the impact it has across the sector. Pride in the Job winning sites have higher levels of homeowner satisfaction as these homes are among the very best in the country. “Congratulations to all the 2021 Pride in the Job Quality Award winners – be proud of what you are building and the standards you are setting.” The Quality Award winners will go on to compete for Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards in the autumn, with the national, Supreme Award winners unveiled in January 2022.
