Vistry South West event raises money for Papyrus charity

- 20 May 22

Vistry South West, which builds properties under the Bovis and Linden brands, held a dinner dance last week and raised £2,545 in aid of its charity of the year. The leading housebuilder holds an annual dinner dance for its staff and this year’s event took place at Sandy Park in Exeter, where a raffle was held, as well as table donations, to raise vital funds for Papyrus. As the UK charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide, Papyrus aims to not only support young people struggling, but to also increase awareness, and shatter the stigma around suicide. Managing director, Paul Moran commented: “We had a fantastic evening, spending valuable time with colleagues and raising money for charity. We’re grateful to our subcontractors and suppliers who donated raffle prizes to the cause, which included a weekend away, Bovey Castle vouchers, a helicopter tour and a Sage coffee machine. “Papyrus is an incredible charity that’s close to our hearts. We sadly lost a colleague in 2020 and we’ve taken part in lots of fundraising activities ever since, including golf days, Easter competitions, bake sales – and we’ll continue to do more to raise money and awareness for the vital support the charity offers.” One of the key ways Papyrus makes a difference is through its helpline, HOPELINEUK, which provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide and anyone worried about a young person. In recent years, demand for the helpline, which is currently open from 9am until midnight, has dramatically increased and the charity is hoping to open it all hours of the day. For practical, confidential suicide prevention help and advice please contact PAPYRUS HOPELINEUK on 0800 0684141, text 07860 039967 or email pat@papyrus-uk.org.
