Warwick site manager awarded prestigious industry accolade

Celebrating his birthday on Tuesday, finishing completions on time by Wednesday and a site visit from Greg Fitzgerald, Vistry Group’s CEO, on the Thursday – winning a Quality Award was the perfect end to a busy week for a Warwick-based site manager. Darren Truscott, site manager at Bovis Homes’ Regency Grange development in Warwick, won the National House Building Council (NHBC)’s Pride in the Job Quality Award, after being selected from more than 10,000 candidates across the UK. Darren, 47, who lives nearby in Castle Bromwich, said: “I’m over the moon with it all. I’m so proud of our achievement at Regency Grange. “When we came back after the first government lockdown – which was much-needed by everyone – we opened up the site and worked hard. We were proud to be named a 5* house builder, open two stunning show homes and launch the development on time. “2020 was a tough year, very tough for me personally. I had a stroke at the end of November and was off for seven weeks. I returned to work at the beginning of January and, alongside my brilliant team, have had Pride in the Job on the mind and I’m so pleased we won it. “I’m looking forward to standing proud and celebrating at the awards ceremony later this year.” Paul Stafford, managing director of Vistry’s West Midlands region, said: “Darren has worked for me for a number of years now, and I have loved seeing him develop. Darren has been through a significant number of challenges over the past 18 months, both in his personal life and balancing the pressures of Covid on site, and he has responded to them fantastically. “Darren is a brilliant site manager and a great leader, his attention to detail is outstanding and Regency Grange is testament to that. I’m delighted for Darren and the whole team on site – it just goes to show, if you’re humble, work hard and motivate those around you, great things can be achieved.” Pride in the Job recognises the exceptional contribution site managers make in creating homes of outstanding quality. As well as undergoing spot checks on the day-to-day running of the sites, each candidate is assessed across all areas of site management, including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and the quality controls they have in place. The Quality Award winners will now go on to compete for the Seal of Excellence Awards and Regional Winner titles.
