Site manager and award winner, Lee Woodward, at Bovis Homes' Pebble Beach development
Bovis Homes site manager, Lee Woodward has been awarded a coveted second NHBC (National House Building Council) Pride in Job Quality Award 2020, for building homes of an exceptional quality at Pebble Beach in Seaton.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, Pride in the Job recognises the UKs top site managers – with more than 11,000 competing for the annual awards. As well as undergoing spot checks on the day-to-day running of the sites, each candidate is assessed across 38 areas of site management, including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and the quality controls they have in place.

Lee has been selected as one of the best site managers in the UK, joining 450 other Quality Award winners. Commenting on the announcement, Lee said: “I feel incredibly proud to have won two years on the trot. Every morning I walk the site first thing to make sure everything looks perfect, consistency is key to me and I like the site to be tidy so it can operate effectively – the saying ‘tidy site, tidy mind’ is so true. When I started, the team would laugh at me as I was always questioning why something was where it was but now it’s at a high standard and it’s much easier to maintain.

“I have an excellent, loyal team working for me and it’s a fantastic atmosphere on site. We all enjoy coming to work and the award has been a real team effort.”

Lee joined the Navy after he left school. With over 20 years’ housebuilding experience, he has worked as a groundworker, labourer and bricklayer, as well as overseeing all trades for a small builder. He was appointed by the company as an assistant site manager in 2016 and was swiftly promoted, recently achieving his NVQ level six in residential housebuilding.

Paul Moran, managing director at Bovis Homes, said: “Lee is a fantastic site manager, and a great leader, his attention to detail is outstanding and whenever you visit site, you know it’s always going to be immaculate. We’re incredibly proud of Lee for winning this award, competition is fierce and to have won for a consecutive year is phenomenal.”

The Quality Award winners will now be shortlisted for the Seal of Excellence Awards, which will be announced in autumn.

Lee has just turned 40 and loves watching football and boxing, after years of participating. He lives in Plymouth and has three children aged 5, 14 and 18 years.

Pebble Beach features a beautiful collection of two, three and four bedroom new homes, off Harbour Road in Seaton. Call 01297 795015 or visit www.bovishomes.co.uk for more details.
