An ambitious sales guru at a national housebuilder is learning from her teenage daughter as she combines home schooling with her day-to-day job during the coronavirus lockdown.

Katy Beswick, field sales manager at Vistry West Midlands – including Bovis Homes and Linden Homes – is balancing her management of four new-build locations with family life, which involves helping 14-year-old Amber Kate with her studies, and walking their one-year-old cocker spaniel, Albie.

Katy, 33, from Ullesthorpe near Lutterworth, aims to become a Vistry Group sales manager and said working with her daughter was enabling her to balance her time effectively and work more efficiently.

The former North Warwickshire and Hinckley College pupil said: “We have a home office upstairs and I currently share it with Amber Kate who is doing her schoolwork. I make sure I stop to take breaks so I can support her with her studies, I find this a balance that is needed – it’s not always easy to do, but it’s very rewarding.

“I also love to walk Albie over the fields, we're lucky to have fields right outside our front door and it’s a great opportunity to unwind or plan what else needs to be done in the working day.”

Katy manages locations in Silverstone, Stadhampton and two developments in Bicester. She joined the company as a sales advisor in 2018 and progressed to sales team leader before starting her current role in November. She puts her success down to having a supportive team around her and now hopes to become sales manager.

“My biggest goal is to become sales manager and take on more responsibility for the department,” she said. “I try to go above and beyond and be a pillar of support for my team, helping developments to be as productive as possible. Also, making sure sales advisors have all the tools to do their job by releasing plots, pricing correctly and managing contracts.

"I was welcomed into the Bovis Homes family from day one – it’s an exciting industry that keeps you on your toes, it's always changing. I love my current role and feel that every day I learn something new. It's very rewarding being able to aid both movers and our sales advisors, to help them achieve their goals.”

Katy is married to Jamie and, after studying Photography and Fine Art at university, loves to take pictures of friends, family and Albie in her spare time.
