Valentyn Samchuk, a Sussex-based site manager working for Vistry Group, is celebrating after receiving a prestigious national award for housebuilding quality.

Valentyn received the Pride in the Job award for his work at Bovis Homes The Maples development in Ifield.

Speaking about his award, Valentyn said: “Winning Pride in The Job for me feels very special and means so much to me. I grew up in Ukraine and had never imagined that it would be possible for me to one day win such a highly recognised award in another country.

“This award was a collective effort from my whole team, line managers, subcontractors and supporting head office departments. In January, we won Team of the Year award for the South East region too – the recognition has been a tremendous confidence boost and a huge reward for building excellent quality homes.”

Valentyn began his career in the construction industry 22 years ago as a bricklayer, before working on various government refurbishment projects. In 2013, he joined Bovis Homes as assistant site manager before being promoted to site manager in 2014.

He has worked as a site manager at four different Bovis Homes developments during his time with the company and is currently based at the housebuilder’s Bramble Park development in Hurstpierpoint.

Pride in the Job, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, marks the exceptional contribution site managers make in creating homes of outstanding quality. After 12 months of rigorous judging, these first round winners excelled and will now go on to compete for the Seal of Excellence Awards and Regional Winner titles.

Greg Fitzgerald, chief executive of Vistry, said: "This is fantastic for Valentyn, and we are delighted and proud that he has achieved this prestigious accolade.

“This success is a testament to all his hard work in what have latterly been extremely challenging times for the industry and country. We look forward to celebrating his accomplishment, and that of his team, as he now goes forward to the next stage of recognition for his build quality achievements.”
