‘Aint no mountain high enough for fundraising Yorkshire housebuilding staff

- 04 Oct 21

Dedication and a desire to boost mental health charity coffers has seen 21 determined housebuilding staff reach new fundraising heights. An intrepid team of sales, site and office-based staff from Linden Homes and Bovis Homes have put their best foot forward to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge; a gruelling 5,200 ft combined climb of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough during the 24-mile walk. With fine weather in their favour, the Vistry Yorkshire climbers (part of Vistry Group) were supported and encouraged by colleagues Karen Hoyle, Sarah Clingo and Liz Cushing who handed out refreshments at both check points. An incredible £6,085 was raised for mental health charity MIND – to add to the almost £87,000 already raised so far this year for the company’s chosen charity of 2021. The challenge team was led by site manager John Firth, and first to finish were Russell Blythe and Jonathan Rawsthorne in just over eight hours. John said: “A massive thanks to all that participated, there were some tough climbs along the way, but our enthusiastic group was determined to get to the end to complete the challenge. There was some real displays of camaraderie and I think that taking part for such a great cause was huge motivation. “It has been a tough year and a half for many of us, but we recognise the vital work provided by MIND and anything we can do to help them improve their services, raise awareness and promote better understanding of mental health issues is hugely important.”
