Site manager Craig Wright has won this year's national Bovis Homes Health and Safety award for his work at the Forest Edge development in Cuddington.

The Cheshire site manager landed the 2013 prize after his site was rated top in the business by the judging panel of Chief Executive David Ritchie, Group Development Director Michael Black and Group Environment, Health and Safety Director Paul Haxell.

Craig, from Bovis Homes' Northern region, is supported at Forest Edge by assistant site manager Stuart Nicholls and materials controller Jason Carter.

Paul said of Craig's work at the site: "The site at Cuddington, whilst in very good order, also had a good 'feel' among all personnel and a sense that they are working together and succeeding in delivering high standards of health and safety, as well as quality and customer satisfaction.

"You get a real sense of pride and camaraderie from our team and the tradesmen on site. It is also a credit to Craig that he has succeeded in winning the Group award having featured in the final judging process twice in recent years and shown steady improvement each time."

Scott Lawson and his team at St George's Park, Stafford, who were the 2012 Group winners, were edged out by the narrowest of margins and have received a Highly Commended award in recognition of their performance.

Clarke Rutland at Knapp's Meadow in Watchfield, Oxfordshire won the regional award for the South West and the South East winner was Ben Virabi at the Romsey development Abbotswood, in Hampshire.

"These two regional winners are both examples of our younger site managers, who are now clearly in control of their own sites, and working with their contractors to achieve high health and safety standards," said Paul.
