An award-wining construction site manager is looking forward to delivering much-needed new homes to the village of East Hanney, as work gets under way at the Oxfordshire location.

Alan Cruickshank, who works for housebuilder Bovis Homes, is in charge of building the 46 new homes on the site, with construction beginning this week.

“The whole team is eager to be starting on site and we’re confident that these new homes will be a really positive addition to the village, said Alan. “East Hanney is a beautiful, picturesque village with a real community feel, and we’re very excited to be part of it.”

As work progresses on site, Alan, who has worked for Bovis Homes for just over three years, is keen to utilise skilled tradespeople from the local area as much as possible.

“We recently completed work on our Keble Fields location at nearby Fairford and we developed a great team of trades there, many of whom we hope to bring with us to East Hanney. We believe strongly in using local tradespeople, who take real pride in delivering for the area.”

In his time at Fairford, Alan was recognised for the quality of the homes being built there, with a Pride in the Job award from the National House Building Council (NHBC), something he’s keen to replicate at East Hanney.

“Everything we do is focussed on quality, and that’s something that I’ve been tasked with repeating here. That’s not just quality of the build, but in how we work with the local community as well. Ensuring that we keep disruption to a minimum and maintain communication with local residents throughout the works.”

The first work on site includes defining the site area, setting out roads and putting in foundations for the first new properties.

A total of 46 new homes will be built at the site, including 16 allocated as affordable homes, to be managed by a local housing association. The scheme will also see Bovis Homes make contributions of more than £350,000 towards the local community, in areas including education, policing and sports and recreation.

Bovis Homes hope to have the first new homes at East Hanney available to purchase in the summer with the show homes opening in the autumn. The first residents are expected to move in before the end of the year.
