Basingstoke building buddies are tough in the mud to help raise £3,000 for local charity

A group of 12 Bovis Homes colleagues raised close to £3,000 for a local hospice by taking part in the Tough Mudder challenge in Henley-on-Thames, boosting the funds the housebuilder has already raised for the charity.

Staff at the housebuilder’s Basingstoke headquarters have been raising money for Naomi House & Jacksplace since last year and recently smashed the £10,000 mark, and thanks to this challenge have boosted fundraising even further!

“Tough Mudder was a fantastic challenge – it was spread over 10 miles, with 25 obstacles,” says regional managing director, James Dunne, who took part in the event. “We had to work together to get through many of the obstacles – it was a lot of fun and great for teamwork!”

Members of the group were delighted to hand over the cheque to corporate fundraiser Lisa Congdon at Naomi House & Jacksplace.

Lisa said: “We’re hugely grateful to Bovis Homes for raising money in aid of Naomi House & Jacksplace by taking part in Tough Mudder. It’s an epic challenge to take on as part of a team. This generous donation will go towards helping families create more precious memories together.”

“We are extremely proud to be able to handover this sum of money to such a worthy cause,” continues James. “It’s a fantastic charity and one which is close to our hearts. We have been blown away by the amount raised and would like to say a big thank you to all those who have sponsored us.”

Staff at Bovis Homes know first-hand the good work which takes place at Naomi House & Jacksplace as the hospice supports the family of a colleague.

Regional commercial director John Kelly’s son, Tom, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a rare muscle-wasting condition, aged just six in 2009. It is a life-limited disorder with no cure. The family have been supported by the Winchester-based hospice since the diagnosis.
