Bovis Homes and Help to Buy make a dream double for Hampshire couple

Born and bred in Romsey, Matthew and Georgie Jones were keen to buy a property in their home town, but didn't think they would be able to afford it.

However, thanks to the Government's Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme, the couple are now settling into their new Bovis Home in the Hampshire town - and still can't quite believe it.

Georgie described the scheme as a lifeline, enabling them to buy their two-bedroom apartment at Bovis Homes' Abbotswood location.

Using Help to Buy, which is available for first-time buyers and existing home owners, the couple only needed to save a five per cent deposit, with an equity loan of up to 20 per cent of the value of the property provided by the Government, interest-free for the first five years.

"I thought it was going to be really difficult, you hear all these stories from people when they buy a house, but the whole process was so easy," says Georgie, who works as a housekeeper and carer at La Sagesse Convent. "The scheme was just perfect and gave us the chance to get on the property ladder.

"From start to finish, our sales advisor Tracy, was just lovely. She made everything so simple to understand and she was so easy to talk to and get on with."

Georgie and her husband Matthew, a painter and panel beater, were living with her parents with their two-year-old daughter, Willow, to help them save for a deposit.

"We were looking for a new-build to take advantage of the Help to Buy scheme," says Georgie. "We have a couple of friends who had moved to Abbotswood and they recommended Bovis Homes, so we went to have look.

"The apartment just ticked all the boxes for us. We really liked the layout, the bedrooms were a good size and we have our own en suite which is an added bonus.

"We watched the house being built and saw it go up from scratch. We would regularly visit and Willow was so excited! When we moved in she kept saying "wow" and she just loves it!"
