Bovis Homes has underlined its ongoing commitment to ensuring the highest levels of safety on site by running a series of CITB-accredited training courses for contractors.

Completion of the Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS), delivered at the national house builder's seven regional centres, will qualify successful candidates for CITB certification.

The courses provide line managers, team leaders, supervisors and foremen with an understanding of their legal duties to better contribute to the instruction, supervision and monitoring of tasks and activities to ensure safety on site.

Topics covered include health and safety law, the importance of effective site inductions, how to carry out risk assessments, and accident reporting and investigation.

Roger Morton, Head of Talent at Bovis Homes, explained: "The welfare of all our staff and contractors is paramount and we're continually looking at ways to make the environments in which they work as safe as possible.

"We value highly the relationships that we have with contractors who, like us, are committed to safety on site and building high-quality homes.

"We're delighted to be providing these courses, which we're running courtesy of funding from the Home Building Skills Partnership (HBSP)."
