Bovis Homes backs employment fair for members of Armed Forces

- 17 Oct 17

Bovis Homes was proud to support a Career Transition Partnership employment fair to highlight how members of the Armed Forces can enjoy successful roles in the house-building industry.

Site manager and former Royal Engineer Dan Knowles joined sales advisor Kerry Hall at the event at the Ageas Bowl cricket ground in Hampshire in providing information and advice about the opportunities on offer.

Bovis Homes has received the Silver Award from the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) for its commitment and support for UK Armed Forces personnel.

That includes its unique 'Trinity' discount scheme, which allows service personnel to combine buyer assistance schemes with a package of offers from the company, in order to purchase their own Bovis Home as simply and affordably as possible.

Roger Morton, Head of Talent at Bovis Homes, said: "As part of our commitment to the Employee Recognition Scheme Silver status that we were recently awarded, we decided to support this careers fair.

"Whilst there are specific roles that we are looking to recruit for, we also used it as an opportunity to provide advice to those transitioning from service life.

"I know myself that leaving the Armed Forces is a big decision and events such as this provide a great opportunity to gain confidence that you have the skills that many employers are looking for.

"Typically military people are self-starters, work well under pressure and understand intent: they are happy working without supervision and are focused on achieving the mission."

The fair was organised by the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), which provides resettlement services for those leaving the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force and Marines.

CTP employment fairs offer chances for current and former members of the Armed Forces to meet employers who already recognise the skills and experience that they can offer.
