Bovis Homes customers raise funds for Children in Need

- 17 Nov 16

After raising more than £5000 for Children in Need through a special customer initiative, a local house builder has learnt more about how the charity benefits youngsters from an Oxfordshire home buyer.

Over a six month period, Bovis Homes which has its Western regional office in Cheltenham, pledged £25 to Children in Need for every satisfaction survey completed and returned by its customers. With 209 respondents providing feedback over this time, the house builder ended up contributing a total of £5225 to the charity.

"We're thrilled to have made this donation to such a worthy cause," says Bovis Homes sales advisor Alison Williams. "Not only are we raising money for a fantastic charity, but we're also benefitting from valuable feedback from our customers, which we can use to improve and progress our services."

Catherine Lee moved into her Bovis Home at Letcombe Fields in Wantage, Oxfordshire in January and was particularly delighted to complete the survey and help contribute towards the donation.

"I was thrilled to hear that the money raised was going to Children in Need," says Catherine. "It does so much good work right across the country and it's a charity close to my heart."

Catherine lost her mobility 10 years ago and her sons, who were still at school at the time, were required to do more than other teenagers would at their age.

"James and Alex had to help with the gardening, cooking and cleaning, and grow-up a bit quicker than others," continues Catherine. "They went to Young Carers in Coventry which provided them with so much support. It gave them the opportunity to leave their responsibilities at home and be children again - play football, meet new friends and go on trips out. It also helped to fund Alex's driving lessons, which was a huge help. Young Carers was absolutely brilliant and without the funding from Children in Need it may not have existed."

Catherine and husband Richard, who have been married for three years, were keen to complete the customer satisfaction survey once they had settled into their new four-bedroom home.

"I was, and still am, over the moon with my new home, but I thought it was important to fill in the survey. It's great to have the opportunity to give feedback and for it to help raise money for Children in Need was the icing on the cake for me."

Along with the £5225 donation, Bovis Homes staff will be raising further funds for Children in Need at its regional offices and sales centres by baking cakes and donating money as part of its dress down days.
