Housebuilder Bovis Homes has committed to building new homes in Gloucester until at least 2024, after completing the purchase of new land in Hardwicke.

The company will build up to 350 new homes on the land, with a focus on two and three-bedroom houses and apartments.

The site, located to the south of the city, and close to the M5 motorway, forms part of the larger Hunts Grove development, which will see more than 1,800 homes built in total.

Supriya Ray, managing director of Bovis Homes’ Western region, which will build the homes, said: “We’re delighted to have completed the purchase of this land and to continue our strong relationship with Gloucester. Bovis Homes has a longstanding association with the city, and we’re proud to continue that, and to deliver more high quality homes.”

The company, which has its regional headquarters in nearby Bishop’s Cleeve, is currently building at Coopers Edge, Brockworth where it has delivered no fewer 1,000 homes in the past 12 years.

“We hope to submit a reserved matters planning application for the first of the homes at Hunts Grove in the first quarter of 2019, and to be starting on site in the summer should we be successful,” explains Supriya.

“We’re looking forward to engaging with local people to ensure the plans for these homes best suit the needs of the existing community.”
