After learning first-hand about the good work taking place at Naomi House and Jacksplace, staff at Bovis Homes have been raising funds for the charity – and have now donated over £6,000.

Selecting the Winchester-based hospice as its charity of the year, staff at the housebuilder’s Southern Counties region have been raising money through a variety of initiatives and have just handed over a cheque for £2,500, which was raised during their latest activities.

“We are delighted to hand over another cheque to Naomi House and Jacksplace and its great that staff have been so supportive. It is particularly meaningful as the charity supports the family of one of our colleagues,” says sales director, Mark Docherty.

Regional commercial director John Kelly’s son, Tom, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a rare muscle-wasting condition, aged just six in 2009. It is a life-limited disorder with no cure.

“It’s wonderful that my colleagues have selected Naomi House and Jacksplace as its charity of the year. Everyone has really got behind the fundraising and I’m blown away at the amount raised,” says John.

Staff at the Basingstoke-based office have been holding raffles, auctions and dress-down days, while a team of seven raised £2,390 for the charity by running the Basingstoke Half Marathon in October.

Becky Elliot, fundraising manager at Naomi House and Jacksplace, said: “We are so grateful for the extremely generous donation from Bovis Homes. Their fundraising efforts have been nothing short of magnificent, especially tackling the Basingstoke Half Marathon. We hope to work together again in the future to help support local children and young adults with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses.”

Naomi House and Jacksplace provide expert hospice care to more than 325 children, young people and their extended families across Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Berkshire, West Sussex, Surrey and the Isle of Wight.
