Bovis Homes teams up with Maidstone Rugby to support local schools

- 03 Oct 16

Bovis Homes has teamed up with Maidstone Rugby Club to help deliver a programme aimed at getting more young people in the local area to take up the sport.

Under the schools programme, coaches and players from the London 1 South Division rugby club take time out of their day jobs to visit local schools, giving lessons in rugby to various age groups.

Annette Hurst, regional sales director at Bovis Homes, explains why the company decided to donate funds towards the schools initiative. "Maidstone Rugby Club is a big part of the community here and the work they do through their schools programme is very important in keeping local children fit and active," she says. "Through our new homes development at Orchard Fields in Barming, we are also becoming part of the local community and so sponsoring the programme is something we are very proud to be a part of.

"We're looking forward to seeing the next generation of rugby stars learning the ropes with the Maidstone Rugby team."

Bob Hayton of Maidstone Rugby added: "We're delighted to have the support of Bovis Homes meaning that we can continue our great work with local schools. The sport of Rugby has a great ethos, and is a great way for children to stay active and build confidence and teamwork skills and so we're very proud of the programme."

To celebrate the new partnership, staff from Bovis Homes' team joined Maidstone Rugby Club for a special Q&A event with England legends Mike Tindall and Lawrence Dallaglio. The two stars also took part in a training session with over 120 Maidstone players from various age groups.

The schools involved in the Maidstone Rugby programme include Valley Park, Invicta Grammar, Oakwood Park Grammar, St Simon Stock, Mid Kent College, Tiger Primary and Cornwallis.

Bovis Homes' Orchard Fields location in Barming will see a total of 250 new homes brought to the community. It offers a range of two, three, four and five bedroom homes and is easily commutable to central London.
