Britain’s Got Talent magician X shocks new Wellingborough residents

A magician not only shocked millions of TV viewers by revealing his identity in the final of Britain’s Got Talent – he also surprised many house-hunters who witnessed his tricks at a Wellingborough event.

Masked act Marc Spelmann, known as ‘X’ throughout the TV talent contest, finished runner-up in this year’s competition, but there was no covering up when he entertained crowds last August at Bovis Homes’ Wendelburie Rise location launch event.

Marc performed magic tricks to house-hunters at the development, on Irthlingborough Road, which has since had its first home buyers move in.

Heather Suffield, regional marketing manager at Bovis Homes, said: “Marc was a delight when he performed in front of parents, children and young couples at our Wendelburie Rise launch in Wellingborough.

“The feedback from house-hunters was terrific and it was such a shock to see him reveal his identity in the final of Britain’s Got Talent and to see him do so well!

“Wendelburie Rise has gone from strength-to-strength since our launch event and we are very proud that our first home buyers have moved in and are enjoying the wonderful development we’re creating.”

Magician X wowed audiences with his mind-reading stunt in the BGT final, which attracted a TV audience of more than eight million. He went on to finish second in the competition behind champion Colin Thackery.

Marc won Ant and Dec’s Golden Buzzer when he was on the show in 2018.

Wendelburie Rise is situated in Stanton Cross, a Wellingborough community that will provide 3,650 new homes, plus industrial, leisure, retail and office space, while delivering around 3,000 new jobs.

The residential areas at Stanton Cross are divided into five distinct phases, each with their own unique character. The inaugural phase, Ise Valley View, plays host to Wendelburie Rise.

Positioned at the heart of Stanton Cross, Ise Valley View overlooks the River Ise and the town of Wellingborough.
