Customers at Bovis Homes' Cloakham Lawns location in Axminster will be getting an ecological, educational and entertaining extra when they move into their new homes this year.

That's because nearby Ferne Animal Sanctuary are offering a free 12-month subscription for all new home buyers at the popular development this year.

Bovis Homes have forged close ties with the charity since starting work in the Devon town in 2014, and are currently sponsoring a new plaque-rubbing trail there, which is already proving popular with families and school groups.

Bovis Homes look to work closely with the local communities in which they operate, and at Axminster they are investing more than £1.5 million into the local community to improve infrastructure and facilities.

Kate Brewer, Marketing Manager for Bovis Homes said "We are excited to be working with Ferne, which is a real hidden gem and a wonderful community facility. We're proud to support the communities in which we work and we are glad to be able to do our bit to help encourage visitors to the centre."

The accessible trail meanders throughout the sanctuary from the grassed play area of the gazebo, through the woodland with the lily and dragonfly ponds and past the play equipment area, finishing outside the café.

Jenny Wheadon, Head of External Funding for Ferne said: "The plaque rubbing trail at Ferne will be a welcome new addition for our many visiting families.  It's a lovely accessible walk in all weathers and will now also provide a great opportunity to create a memory of Ferne's wildlife to take home.  We are grateful to Bovis Homes for kindly providing these plaques."

The engraved plaques were designed by local wildlife artist Patrick Moran and include pictures of a frog, toadstool, ferns, kingfisher, deer, oak and acorn.
