Communication is key to housing success says South Croydon site manager

A site manager from South Croydon, who previously worked on high-rise apartments in the capital, says strong working relationships and communication within the housing industry are the keys to construction success.

Steve O’Connor, who works at Bovis Homes’ Bramble Park development in West Sussex, said excellent relationships and open communication between site colleagues and subcontractors had led to happy home owners at his own new-build location.

The soon-to-be dad has worked at the housebuilder’s Hurstpierpoint location, on Iden Hurst, for eight months and is delighted with the positive customer feedback that the site teams are receiving.

Steve, who has eight years’ experience in the sector, said: “Customer expectations are rightly much higher these days and we are committed to meeting those expectations. My daily highlight is checking that our high standards have been met. Each day is so rewarding, I love the variety.

“There have been a number of changes recently, in build sequencing and programming, which help in our delivery, and we are supported by strong relationships with subcontractors, which is the key to success.”

Steve, who previously worked on high-rises in Knightsbridge, added that the success of Bramble Park was a real team effort, with the design of the homes and development playing a big part in its popularity.

“Home owners are impressed by the quality of the homes as well as the general layout of our Bramble Park location, with great gardens, open roads and lovely green open spaces giving it a real community feel,” he said.
