Congleton site manager wins national award

- 11 Jul 17

The site manager in charge of a popular new homes location in Congleton has won a national award from a leading industry body, in recognition of his team's work.

Oliver Cookson, who runs Bovis Homes' Loachbrook Meadow development to the west of the Cheshire town, has been given a 'Quality' award in this year's National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Awards, in recognition of his team achieving the highest standards in house building.

It is the second consecutive year that the Loachbrook Meadow site team has won this award, having achieved the feat in 2016 when Oliver was assistant site manager.

Oliver says: "We're absolutely delighted to have been given this award for the second consecutive year - it's been a real team effort. We have a good group of hard working Bovis Homes staff, as well as contractors working here at Loachbrook Meadow, and we all take great pride in what we do."

Oliver, 28, who lives in nearby Middlewich, will now be put forward for the 'Seal of Excellence Awards', where 130 site managers are selected. Winners of this accolade are announced at a series of award ceremonies held across the UK in the autumn.

Loachbrook Meadow is currently in its second phase of construction, and once complete will see a broad mix of 200 homes with 3, 4 and 5 bedrooms and varying designs.

Alex Carlin, Interim Managing Director for Bovis Homes' Mercia region, said: "Loachbrook Meadow is a hugely popular location, and this is in no small part down to the quality of the homes Oliver and his team are delivering. We're very proud of them and of the developing community at Loachbrook Meadow, and we wish Oliver all the best for the regional awards later this month."

To win the Pride in the Job award, the developments and the site managers have been judged by NHBC specialists, with every stage of the build inspected ensuring meticulous and consistent attention to detail. Site managers must also demonstrate excellent leadership, technical expertise and robust health and safety processes.
