Construction of Locks Heath homes hits major milestone

The construction of 64 new homes off Lockswood Road in Locks Heath reaches a major milestone next month when the first property at the new Bovis Homes location is completed.

This new part of the community, called 'Locks Heath Peters Road', is creating around 154 jobs during its construction and will be providing much-needed new properties to boost local housing stock.

The finishing touches are being put to the first property there - a three-bedroom family home - and it will be opened as a showhome on 7 November, when local residents and Hampshire househunters are invited to take a tour.

"These new homes have been designed to complement the character of the surrounding area and we started to receive enquiries as soon as we put them up on our website and advertised them off plan," said Bovis Homes Southern Marketing Manager Candice McCabe.

"The opening of a show home is always a significant day in the history of a development and we expect a number of visitors to come along to see what the homes at Gallons Way will look like.

"There is inevitably a lot of interest when you introduce new stock into the local housing market, and we have already taken a number of reservations off plan. We are finding that in the current climate, Government-backed schemes like Help to Buy Equity are helping to open up the market and many of those reserving or expressing an interest in Gallons Way are first-time buyers or growing families looking to move up the ladder."

Prices currently start at £308,950 for a three-bed house. Using Help to Buy Equity, the purchaser would get a 20% equity loan, so would initially pay £247,160, including a deposit of £15,450.

The building of the new homes will bring further benefits to the community as Bovis Homes is contributing more than £400,000 to local services and infrastructure as part of the planning agreement.

Bovis Homes creates contemporary homes built to traditional standards and their homes include new kitchens with integrated appliances in the price and come with a 10-year warranty from the National House Building Council.
