Contemporary homes for modern living

- 24 Aug 18

Since the company began in 1885, Bovis Homes has been evolving its property designs to fit with modern living, and this is continuing over 130 years later, with the local house builder’s stylish three-storey homes proving a hit with buyers at its popular new Devon location.

At Bovis Homes’ Cloakham Lawns, in Axminster, the contemporary properties have been designed for today’s lifestyles, but are also carefully crafted to take advantage of the stunning Devon surroundings.

“We’re really proud of our homes in Axminster. We’ve got a fantastic mix of house types and the three-storey properties are just perfect for the location,” says regional marketing manager, Stacey Banfield. “The homes have balconies, large windows and French doors to take in the beautiful countryside views, and spacious open-plan rooms and family areas for socialising.”

Ranging from three to five-bedrooms, the three-storey homes include en-suite bathrooms and garages, with many including separate studies and utility rooms.

“Lifestyles have changed through the years and our homes have been designed to suit today’s routines,” says Stacey. “Kitchens are no-longer a place just for cooking, it’s become a place for socialising too, while storage and big windows are also attributes home seekers look for. Our homes have spacious, bright and airy rooms, with many designed with open-plan kitchen areas – ideal for those who like to cook.”

Mary-Ann Swan and her family recently moved into a new home at Cloakham Lawns. She said: “Three-storey living is perfect! We will never move away from this style now we have tried this way of living. There can be several of us in the house all feeling we have our own space – we can make as much noise as we want without disturbing each other, we love it!”

The praise is also echoed by her son, Benjamin. He says: “The new house suits me! I have my own room and en suite at the top of the house – I can shut the door and it feels like I have my own flat – I love it!”

Bovis Homes offers a range of purchase assistance schemes which can help house hunters make a dream Devon move.

The Government’s Help to Buy – Equity Loan scheme is available exclusively on new-build properties and is available for first-time buyers and existing home owners alike. Purchasers only need a 5% deposit and receive an equity loan from the Government for up to 20% of the property’s value, leaving just a 75% mortgage required.

With Bovis Homes’ Smooth Move and Home Exchange schemes, purchasers can save time and money with the house builder dealing with the estate agents on the seller’s behalf, as well as paying the fees when the old property is sold.

A selection of homes at Cloakham Lawns are available using the Home Reach scheme. In partnership with housing provider, heylo, the shared ownership scheme is a part-buy part-rent option, helping buyers to get a foot on the housing ladder.

“Cloakham Lawns offers a wide selection of properties, each carefully designed for a modern lifestyle, but with features and characteristics to suit all types of buyers,” says Stacey. “It’s grown into a wonderful close-knit community, with residents making the most of the green open spaces and footpaths throughout the location.”
