Couple upsize to Amesbury new-build to get that work-life balance benefit

A couple who upsized to a four-bedroom new-build property in Amesbury say they are delighted with the space and layout of their home, which will be a great boost for their work-life balance.

James and Beth Mercer, who moved to Bovis Homes’ King’s Gate location, off Pritchard Way, are already utilising the extra space, and they have praised the service they have received from the housebuilder.

James, a chartered surveyor who commutes to London, is now based at home one day a week and works in the spare bedroom, while Beth plans to make the most of the study and larger kitchen to grow her cake decorating business.

“We love the specification and layout of our new-build home, plus King's Gate itself,” James said.  “We find our house spacious and it provides everything we were looking for in a new home. Our previous house in Kent was a terrace, on a busy main road, with only one parking space and nowhere for visitors to park, so this is a big improvement.

“We wanted something that was low maintenance and energy efficient. We like that the property is detached and over two floors. The kitchen-dining area provides enough space to prepare food and accommodate a full-sized dining table and is separate from the living room.

“It is also located in a spot that is quite open and not too overlooked and there is plenty of car parking.”

James added that Bovis Homes’ high level of service encouraged them to make the move and they were now looking forward to enjoying the sports facilities and nearby amenities.

“We have been very happy with the whole moving process,” James said. “The Bovis Homes sales team have been very helpful and friendly.

“I had taken up playing tennis before we moved, so hope to continue with that. We hope to get the garden done soon and to get into the habit of going to the gym. We'd also like to start exploring the local countryside and visit places that were too far away for a day trip when we lived in Kent.

“King's Gate is convenient for Amesbury town centre and for commuting to London, via Grateley railway station, plus getting down to Cornwall to visit family.”
