A new primary school in Lichfield, that opened its doors in September, has received a welcome donation from a local housebuilder.

Streethay Primary is a 210-place school for nursery, reception, and Years 1 and 2, with one class per year group, with the aim of growing year-on-year up to Year 6.

To help the school on its way, Bovis Homes donated £2,000 to the school for much-needed outdoor equipment, as well as new children’s books for the school’s library.

The new equipment and library were launched at an official opening event that took place on Monday, 14th October.

Louise Macrae, marketing manager in Bovis Homes Mercia region, said: “The chance to creatively play outdoors and learn to find the joy in reading is vital to a child’s development, so Bovis Homes is thrilled to be able to support Streethay Primary.

“The school is sure to be a great asset to the community and is set to be particularly valuable to young families living at Bovis Homes’ Roman Heights development in Lichfield.”

Streethay is government-funded and is one of a family of schools managed by the Shaw Education Trust. It is an all-ability school open to any child from the local community, inclusive of all social, religious, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

The school offers light and spacious classrooms, and a learning resource centre equipped with the latest IT, as well as sports fields and outside play areas.
