Dream downsize for Redditch retirees thanks to Smooth Move and Bovis Homes

A retired Redditch couple, who have been married for 55 years, have downsized into a three-bedroom new-build house – after they discovered their dream property at Bovis Homes.

Michael and Isabel Dilley, who have lived in the town for 31 years, love the open-plan kitchen and dining room, separate sitting room, master bedroom with en suite and the wider doors that make it easier to move around at their Bovis Homes property at Millwood Meadows.

Michael, 80, uses one bedroom as a study and his wife, Isabel, 77, another for her arts and crafts, making it ideal for their active lives in retirement.

Michael, a former electrical power engineer, said: “We decided we had to downsize and a new-build was recommended to us because of the high standards and the ease of movement – there are light switches we can reach if we ever need a wheelchair or other assistance, there are wider doors and everything is brand-new so doesn’t need maintenance. We also have a good-size garage outside.

“We’ve moved to a wonderful home, with light, open living. We’re still active, but we need to be realistic and think about the future – and this home meets all our needs.”

Michael and Isabel – who recently celebrated her birthday enjoying afternoon tea with friends in a nearby hotel – used Bovis Homes’ Smooth Move, which takes the hassle out of the process.

“Smooth Move makes the whole process a lot easier and I recommend it to those who are interested – it worked well for us,” said Michael.

Buyers looking to sell their home can take advantage of Smooth Move, which can save time and thousands of pounds, with the home builder dealing with the estate agent on the customer's behalf, as well as paying the fees.

The pair also praised Bovis Homes’ sales advisor Alice Perrey for her support during the move and her regular communication.

“Alice has been terrific all the way through,” Michael added. “She been a great support to us in making our perfect move.”

The couple fell in love with the Redditch community after Michael’s work took them to the area from London, and they later produced the local church magazine and fundraised for initiatives including lifeboat charities and local trusts.

In her spare time, Isabel has been a keen dressmaker, embroider and sewer and now focuses on her arts and craft.

Alice said of her customers: “Michael and Isabel are lovely new home owners and we wish them all the very best in their new house.

“We have a fantastic range of homes at Millwood Meadows and they are proving very popular with all types of buyers – young and old.”
