Dream of life by the coast comes true for West Sussex couple

Looking for a new-build house close to the coast, Ian and Ann McDonald found the perfect place to start their retirement at Bovis Homes’ flourishing Saxons Plain location in West Durrington.

Ian and Ann had lived in Horsham, where they had owned and managed a beauty salon, for nearly 30 years. Now semi-retired, with their daughter taking the helm of the business, the couple decided to move 20 miles away to West Durrington for a life by the sea.

“We wanted to move near the coast and Saxons Plain ticked all the boxes,” says Ian. “We liked the neighbourhood and it has excellent transport links and access to the main roads. There are lots of amenities close by and a range of pubs and restaurants just a short drive away.”

With regular visits from their three grown-up children and their partners, Ian and Ann were looking for a home which would accommodate their family and friends when they came to stay and selected the four-bedroom Montpellier house type.

“We’ve got plenty of space to host our family and friends in our new home,” says Ian. “It’s got a large sitting room and a great kitchen and dining area, which is big enough to entertain our family. The garden is a good size and we like that we’ve got plenty of off-road parking spaces.”

After reserving their new home, the couple made several visits to the location to select the various finishes for their kitchen and bathrooms.

“Every visit was a real pleasure and we were able to look around our new house and see it taking shape,” says Ian. “The team were exemplary and always keen to help. The sales advisors, Jo and Craig, were so supportive throughout – from selecting our home right through to our welcome when we picked up the keys.

“Ricky is a great site manager, as are his team members Ben and Jo. They’ve helped us settle into our new home and have kept us informed of site activities. The whole team at Saxons Plain provided excellent support and continue to do so today!
