Easy as ABC for Rugby primary school thanks to builder and book shop partnership

- 29 Oct 18

Pupils at Paddox Primary School in Rugby will never be lost for words thanks to a donation from a local housebuilder that has allowed the school to purchase over 100 dictionaries.

Bovis Homes stepped in with the cash boost to help the school invest in new dictionaries – and thanks to a significant discount offered by local bookshop Kenilworth Books – they have been able to secure 110 copies.

“Paddox Primary School are thrilled to receive over 100 dictionaries from the kind donation made by Bovis Homes,” says headteacher, Jane Le Poidevin. “We are looking to develop the rich vocabulary the children use within their writing and the opportunity for more children in Year 4, 5 and 6 to have access to quality dictionaries is fantastic.

“We would like to express our thanks to Bovis Homes and Kenilworth Books for working with us to provide this enhancement to the pupil’s learning experiences.”

Judy Brook, owner of Kenilworth Books, said: “This is a wonderful initiative – the children of Paddox Primary School are the future of this area; Bovis Homes’ action is giving them access to books and supporting their learning shows great forethought and a really encouraging, long-sighted approach to the concept of neighbourhood. We are delighted to be involved as a small, independent shop working in this county’s education community.”

Students between the ages of eight and 10 years old at the school have been given a dictionary to help them improve their writing and language skills.

“We are delighted that we have been able to support Paddox Primary School and help boost the resources available to the students there,” says Bovis Homes regional marketing manager, Paul Bennison. “We hope that the students get good use from the dictionaries and they are used for many years to come!”

Bovis Homes has recently joined the Hillmorton community, on the outskirts of Rugby, with its Little Morton location. Situated close to Paddox Primary School, it brings a range of three, four and five-bedroom homes to the area.
