First-time buyers in Faringdon are celebrating moving into their family home which has plenty of space and a good-size garden for their daughter to play – and they have just added to the family!

Mariah Greenham and her daughter Elsie at Bovis Homes' Faringdon Fields
Mariah Greenham, her fiancé Ben Williams, 25, and their daughter Elsie, 2, have moved to Bovis Homes’ Faringdon Fields location in Faringdon, using a part-exchange scheme, and 10-week-old Cocker Spaniel, Max, has now joined the growing family.

The couple used Bovis Homes’ Home Reach initiative and bought a share of their new three-bedroom property, while paying a low monthly rent on the part they did not buy.

Mariah, 23, who works as a care assistant, said: “Both my fiancé and I heard good things about Bovis Homes. The quality of the finished houses are fantastic. We also chose Bovis Homes because of the shared ownership option.

“My fiancé and I both work full-time as well as look after our daughter, so it's been very hard. However, by using the shared ownership scheme, it's made our dreams of becoming home owners a reality. At just 23 and 25, we have achieved so much to be able to have a beautiful home for our daughter to grow up in.

“We have both always loved new-build homes. We love the benefits it comes with as well as it being a blank canvas for us to make a home.

“I love the layout downstairs. The open plan gives our daughter lots of space to play in. Also, in the summer, our daughter can be in and out of the garden without either of us worrying because we can always see her. Even when we're prepping dinner, she’s still in plain view. The bedrooms are very good sizes too, which makes such a difference.

“We have all found the move very smooth. Ben's favourite part of the house is the open plan downstairs and the community around us. Elsie's favourite part of the house is the garden and her bedroom.”

Mariah and Ben chose Faringdon Fields for its quiet location and its proximity to local amenities, including a leisure centre, supermarkets, and cafes. Mariah’s commute is only 15 minutes, while Ben’s is 40 minutes.

"We looked and thought about a few developments," Mariah added. "However, Faringdon has everything we need, such as supermarkets and shops. It's close to the shopping outlet in Swindon too.

"The development isn't too far from the town, but it's far enough that we're in a quiet area away from everything. So, we get the best of both worlds.

"Our neighbours moved in within a few days of each other, so we have seen and spoken to them and I think we will all get along very well. Everyone we have come across in the development seems very welcoming too.

“There's a leisure centre, soft play areas, farms, Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens, supermarkets, a few quirky shops in town, coffee shops and nurseries around us, so we have everything we need.

"We like to spend time as a family as and when we can. This could be going for a walk, visiting family, shopping trips and going out for lunch."

With Home Reach, house buyers can initially purchase between 50 per cent and 75 per cent of their chosen home. This means purchasers will be able to live in their home as if they have bought it outright and can buy more of their property in the future and stop paying rent on that part.
