A five-star national housebuilder has acquired a Hailsham location where it plans to build up to 300 homes in a sustainable new part of the community. Vistry Group is now preparing to submit a reserved matters planning application for the development, off Marshfoot Lane, on the edge of the town, to Wealden District Council. Under the proposals, the Old Marshfoot Farm development will include green open space and play areas, with 105 of the properties designated as affordable homes. Vistry – which includes Bovis and Linden Homes – hopes to start work on its one to five-bedroom properties, which includes homes from the housebuilder’s latest collections, later this year. If approved, the new development adds to the Bovis Homes Burfield Grange and Linden Homes Millwood Park locations in the town. Doug Law, regional land director at Vistry Kent, said: "These quality new-build homes are set to bring more much-needed affordable properties to Hailsham, offering light and spacious layouts for modern living, for all types of home buyers. “Our existing strong site teams will move from the latter phase of the Burfield Grange and Millwood Park developments in Hailsham, providing key continuity for our colleagues in the town.” The location is around a 15-minute walk from Hailsham town centre with an array of amenities close by, including a leisure centre. The site has far-reaching views across countryside and the Pevensey Levels conservation area. The new homes will include one-bedroom apartments up to five-bedrooms detached properties, with well-proportioned exteriors and a real sense of light and flow on the inside.
