Five-star housebuilder acquires Kent location to build 80 homes

- 26 Jan 21

A five-star national housebuilder has acquired a Kent location near Ashford where it plans to build 80 homes in a sustainable new part of the community. Vistry Group is now preparing to submit a reserved matters planning application for the Hamstreet development, opposite Hamstreet Primary Academy, on the edge of the village, to Ashford Borough Council. Vistry – which includes housebuilding brand Bovis Homes – is expected to start work on the one to five-bedroom properties, which includes homes from the housebuilder’s latest collection, later this year. The work will include a football pitch for dual use by the school and community, an outdoor classroom and school car park for up to 60 spaces. Also, an open space and a play area. A total of 32 properties have been designated as affordable homes. Doug Law, regional land director at Vistry Kent, said: "These quality new-build homes will bring more much-needed affordable properties to Hamstreet, offering light and spacious layouts for modern living, for all types of home buyers. “The one to five-bedroom properties will be from our latest homes collection, which are proving popular with all types of buyers including families.” The location, on the northern edge of Hamstreet, is within walking distance to village amenities including community facilities and Ham Street railway station, with regular services into Ashford International and London St Pancras. Hamstreet is located seven miles south of Ashford, and benefits from a nursery, doctors’ surgery, dentist, hairdressers, post office, coffee shop and restaurant. The Sports Pavilion overlooks the recreation field and tennis courts, and the woodland nature reserve is only a short walk away. The village has good connections to the wider South East via the M20. Vistry was awarded its five-star rating for quality and service by its own customers through the Home Builders Federation national survey. Properties in Bovis Homes' latest homes collection are named after British trees and focus on well-proportioned exteriors with a real sense of light and flow on the inside.
