Five-star housebuilder back in Bedfordshire town will spend £2.5m on community

- 21 Dec 20

A five-star national housebuilder has reserved matters approval for 150 homes in a Bedfordshire town it knows well and will spend £2.5million on community investment. Vistry Group – which includes Bovis and Linden Homes – has the green light from Central Bedfordshire Council and this is the fourth Bovis Homes development in Shefford in the last ten years. The one to five-bedroom homes, off Hitchin Road, will include 53 affordable properties. The move marks a continuation of the housebuilder’s presence in the town, following its successful Campton Fields development, off Campton Road. Financial contributions will be made towards education, healthcare, a library, play and outdoor sports facilities, a community building and delivery of an access road and services for a future school. Tom Wheeler, regional land director at Vistry Northern Home Counties, said: "Vistry is delighted to make this £2.5million investment in the Shefford community as part of our latest location in the town. This will be our fourth development in Shefford during the past decade, so it is definitely a market and location we understand well, which is a great benefit for us and local home buyers. "These quality new-build homes will bring more much-needed affordable properties to Shefford, offering quality and spacious layouts for modern living, for all types of home buyers." Vistry was awarded its five-star rating for quality and service by its own customers through the Home Builders Federation national survey. Two, three, four and five-bedroom homes, including four bungalows, will be available on the private market from next year and include properties from the housebuilder’s new collection. They focus on well-proportioned exteriors with a real sense of light and flow on the inside.
