Friends reunite at Bude new-build location–and become groom and best man

Two old friends have become work colleagues by chance after bumping into each other on a Bude new-build location – and now one has become the other’s best man!

Site managers Keith Wheeler and Colin Dan grew up together and later spotted each other at Bovis Homes’ Shorelands location, off Binhamy Road, after Keith started work there through an agency.

In no time, the pair were reminiscing and picking up their friendship where they left off – which has now seen Colin appointed best man at Keith’s wedding to long-term partner Tracey.

Keith, who has decades of experience in the construction industry, said: “I turned up through an agency to lend a hand and help out - and then ran into Colin who I didn’t realise would be there!

“It was a huge shock, but a great surprise. The build director liked my work, so I ended up becoming a full-time employee at Bovis Homes and working my way up.

“There couldn’t have been anyone else to pick as best man at my wedding – Colin and I go way back and we now have a brilliant time building superb homes at Shorelands.

“The relationship between the build and sales teams is what makes the location so successful and we also have strong relationships with the sub-contractors here.

“But it’s all about the customer and making sure they’re getting the best quality homes they can and that’s what makes the difference in Bude.”

Keith has worked his way up to join Colin, who was assistant site manager at the time, and both now run the build as site managers at different phases of the development.

Properties at Shorelands include those from the housebuilder’s new homes collection, which are named after British trees and focus on well-proportioned exteriors with a real sense of light and flow on the inside.

Colin, a keen fisherman and darts player, added Shorelands’ location and range of homes - with attractive exteriors and impressive layouts and space – were behind its popularity. And sales advisor Pam Belverstone had helped boost the development’s popularity.

“There is so much choice here for all types of buyers – couples, families and downsizers – and they are so lucky with the coastline so close and easy access to Devon and Cornwall,” he said. “It really is a luxury lifestyle!”
