Home builder helps to spread Christmas cheer by collecting special shoe boxes

- 08 Dec 17

A local home builder is helping to spread the festive joy this Christmas and has collected hundreds of shoe boxes to support this year's Operation Christmas Child.

Bovis Homes' Ottery St Mary, Sherford, Teignmouth and Somerton locations encouraged staff, residents and new buyers to fill a shoe box with gifts to send to needy children around the world in aid of the Samaritan's Purse annual collection.

"We were overwhelmed with the number of shoe boxes we received," says regional marketing manager, Stacey Banfield. "We sent out emails and spoke to residents to let people know that the sales centres would be collecting them, and we're thrilled with the response we received.

"We have had such positive feedback, and people have really enjoyed putting the boxes together. It is such a worthwhile cause and it really is such a simple way of spreading festive cheer and brightening up a child's Christmas."

Bovis Homes designated four sales centres across the South West to act as collection points for the boxes, as well as offering entry into a prize draw for every shoe box received, with the chance to win a Christmas hamper.

Operation Christmas Child has been running since 1990, where shoe boxes filled with goodies have been sent to deprived youngster across the world to ensure they get a gift at Christmas.

Bovis Homes' popular locations offers a range of two to five bedroom houses in a variety of styles and layouts.
