Home hunters could find dream new-build at Mindenhurst in Deepcut after plan approval

Home hunters in Surrey could find the new-build property of their dreams after a national housebuilder received the green light for more than 120 homes at Mindenhurst village in Deepcut.

Bovis Homes' Deepcut location
Bovis Homes – part of the newly-formed Vistry Group – has had a planning application for 127 homes at Mindenhurst, off Brunswick Road, approved unanimously by Surrey Heath Borough Council's planning committee.

Work will start this summer and plans include a mix of one and two-bedroom flats, plus two, three, four and five-bedroom homes from the housebuilder's latest collection. A total of 35 per cent will be affordable housing.

Caroline Green, regional planning and design manager at Vistry, said: “We are delighted to have our plans approved at this popular location. The team cannot wait to get started and provide much-needed open market and affordable housing in the village.

“Our parcel of land forms part of the larger redevelopment of the former Deepcut barracks. The wider development also includes large amounts of open space and woodland. A primary school and new pub have also recently been approved.

“The next steps are to start on fencing and preparatory works with house building set to start on the development late summer.”

Houses will each have a car charging point and the flats will be fitted with communal charging points, which will work on a pay-as-you-go basis. There will also be dedicated cycle stores and a new children’s play area will be provided in the centre of the development.

Bovis Homes’ new housing collection, which includes two to five-bedroom homes that have recently been designed and developed by the company, are named after British trees.

The new range focuses on well-proportioned exteriors with a real sense of light and flow on the inside. They include high ceilings, wide staircases and a focus on bringing the outside in, using cleverly placed windows and bifold doors to maximise space and light.
