Horticultural show set to blossom after boost from local home builder

- 23 Jan 19

Following the success of the Steeple Claydon Allotment and Horticultural Society’s annual show last summer, the organisers have received a major boost ahead of this year’s event.

Local housebuilder Bovis Homes has donated £200 to the society for the running of the historic village event in 2019.

“We are delighted to support the society and its annual show,” says Heather Suffield, Bovis Homes regional marketing manager. “It’s a wonderful event for the local community and we’re looking forward to hearing more about this year’s show as preparations get underway!”

The Horticultural Show has been running for over 70 years and is one of village’s annual highlights. The show includes a variety of classes for residents of all ages to enter; from vegetable and flower growing to handicrafts and drawing.

Maria Cheshire, secretary for the Steeple Claydon Allotment and Horticultural Society, said: “To cover the expense of the show, we rely on local sponsorship. The contribution by Bovis Homes for the show was therefore most welcome and went a long way in enabling us to keep this valuable social village event ongoing.”

Bovis Homes has recently joined the Steeple Claydon community with its Nightingale Fold location, bringing a range of four and five-bedroom homes to the village.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming residents to Nightingale Fold and we’re sure many of them will enjoy the Horticultural Show in the summer,” says Heather.
