Housebuilder-backed Warwick firework show set to go off with a bang

Firework loving families are invited to a housebuilder-backed bonfire event in Warwick this week to raise more than £25,000 for charity.

Warwick Town Bonfire, which promises to be the biggest yet, will take place at Warwick Racecourse on Saturday and is being supported by Bovis Homes.

The Warwickshire house builder, which has donated £250 towards the event, has locations at Warwick Gates on Harbury Lane and Semele Park in Radford Semele.

Families are set to be entertained by a bonfire and firework show, funfair and steel band. Last year's event raised £26,000 and organisers hope to beat that target.

Jackie Crampton, secretary at Warwick Town Bonfire said: "We can't wait for our bonfire and fireworks to wow the crowds and we have some terrific entertainment lined up.

"This year's show is gearing up to be the largest ever. The racecourse grandstands offer a great view of the bonfire and firework show across the track on the common. We are also offering a bonfire supper upstairs with a view of the fireworks."

Gates will open at 4.30pm, when children can enjoy the small funfair on St Mary’s car park in Hampton Road. There will be a short firework display at 6pm to keep children entertained, while the main show starts after the fire is lit at 6.30pm.

The event has been organised by Warwick Lions and Warwick Rotary Club and tickets are available online and in local shops.

"Warwick Town Bonfire is such a highlight for the town and with this strong support, it really is a must-see show that is raising important funds for charity.”

Entry is at the main entrance off Bread and Meat Close and there is free parking. People can also access the show from Hampton Road.

Advance tickets for those aged 15 and over, cost £7, while child tickets are £1. On the gate, adult tickets are £8 and child tickets are £2. The event is free for those under three-years-old.
