Housebuilder begins construction of new homes at Whiteley Meadows

- 14 Aug 19

National housebuilder Bovis Homes has started construction at a North Whiteley location with the first residents expected to move in towards the end of the year.

Works by developers are well underway on the early phases of the site with 168 homes on land in the northern edge of the location under construction and works on 160 homes started in the south.

Building so far has focused on key infrastructure to support the development, such as roads and services, and the first show homes are underway.

Bovis Homes has started works on 70 homes across three development parcels.

These new homes make up part of the flagship Whiteley Meadows location, a major new residential-led destination totalling 3,500 new property, of which Bovis Homes will deliver 1,702.

The wider site will also include two new primary schools, a new secondary school, a care home, shops and a community centre all set within large areas of open space and retained woodland.

James Dunne, managing director of, Bovis Homes’ Southern Counties region, said: “This is a significant milestone in Bovis Homes’ investment at North Whiteley.

"This is a fantastic location, which is hugely desirable, and we’re looking forward to working alongside the local community, as well as the city and county councils, to deliver more much-needed new homes to the area.

"Showcasing our new-to-market housing collection, Whiteley Meadows is a flagship development for our region."

Alongside construction of the new homes, £77 million will be invested to support local infrastructure.

This includes improvement works to local roads, funding and construction of educational and community facilities such as allotments, play parks and sports fields. Around 620 jobs will be created over the eight-year construction period, including apprenticeships.
