A total of 76 players connected to Bovis Homes took part in the charity golf day at Wychwood Park Golf Club, and a cheque for £7,738 has now been handed to Macmillan Cancer Support.

There were 19 teams participating on the day, which included an evening raffle, to raise the funds in support of the charity, which helped a former assistant site manager’s step-dad, who was diagnosed with cancer.

Organiser Christopher Evans, associate buying director at Bovis Homes, said: "It was a fantastic day and the weather was good for us.

“There were helpers from Bovis Homes on the day, who assisted in taking registration and handing out goody bags to the golfers.

“They did a great job selling raffle tickets and driving the golf cart around, handing out additional refreshments to the teams.

“Our finance director, Nic Davenport, played a vital part in hosting the raffle and auction which helped us achieve a fantastic figure.

“Our former colleague's step-dad had cancer and we wanted to do something to generate money for Macmillan Cancer Support, which is a fantastic charity.”

Bovis Homes colleagues Kaley Fisher, group technical administrator, and Olivia Edge, marketing assistant, both based at the housebuilder’s Mercia regional office in Dunston, helped ensure the day ran smoothly.

Raffle prizes included a TV, spa day for two, four-ball rounds around the UK, Garmin golf watch and American Golf kit vouchers.
