Housebuilder colleagues pay tribute to NHS staff with PPE donation to Plymouth hospital

Colleagues at a national housebuilder have donated much-needed equipment to a Plymouth hospital – and paid tribute to the fantastic work being carried out by NHS staff there.

Build teams at Vistry Group, which includes Linden and Bovis Homes, have donated masks, gloves, shoe covers and tape – to help with social distancing – to Derriford Hospital after pooling resources from locations across Devon.

Daniel Freemont, site manager at Church Walk in Newton Abbot, carefully delivered more than 50 items, including reusable masks and latex and fabric gloves, after taking a collection from
Paignton, Kingsteignton and Chudleigh developments, while ensuring he adhered to Government safety rules.

Daniel said: “It’s fantastic that our developments have come together to make a contribution to Derriford Hospital in these challenging times. The staff I passed this PPE on to were very grateful, as are we for their tremendous efforts and the sacrifices they make every day.”

Equipment was collected from the Linden Homes site teams at White Rock in Paignton, Kings Gate in Kingsteignton, The Oaks in Chudleigh, and Church Walk.

One of the key pieces of kit currently sought by those on the NHS frontline are FFP3 face masks, which are also used in the housebuilding industry.

Vistry Group, which includes Bovis Homes, Linden Homes and Vistry Partnerships, has just been awarded a five-star rating from the Home Builders Federation, following the annual announcement of the industry’s customer satisfaction survey results.
