Housebuilder donates almost 200 presents to children without a home for Christmas

A Peterborough-based housebuilder has donated nearly 200 gifts for children in temporary accommodation in time for Christmas. Staff at Vistry East Midlands, which has its head office at Southgate Park, have collected a variety of toys and games which have been given to Light Project Peterborough to distribute to children in temporary accommodation across the city. Steven Pettican, CEO of Light Project Peterborough, said: “We would like to thank all of the staff members at Vistry East Midlands who have taken the time to donate and wrap these gifts. “Light Project Peterborough is pleased to be able to bring some festive cheer to children in temporary accommodation this Christmas, and we could not have done so without the support of Vistry East Midlands, their members of staff, and the donations from individuals across the Peterborough churches. “Thanks to the generosity of so many individuals, our goal of over 300 gifts has been well exceeded, with over 500 presents now donated and ready to be handed out across the city.” Light Project Peterborough was launched in 2015 to provide help and support to those in need. Since then, the charity has completed several projects to offer support, information and temporary accommodation for the homeless all year-round. Nic Chapman, sales and marketing director for Vistry East Midlands, said: “As a housebuilder, we understand the importance of community spirit and that’s why this year we have decided to provide Christmas presents to children who are currently living in temporary accommodation. “I would like to thank all my colleagues at Vistry who have very kindly donated presents. This year has been hard for all of us, so to be able to bring some positivity at Christmas is a wonderful thing for all involved.” Bovis Homes, which is a part of the newly-formed Vistry Group along with Linden Homes and Vistry Partnerships, is currently building a selection of three and four-bedroom homes at Hampton Water, off London Road, Peterborough.
