Families and children with Down’s Syndrome are set to benefit after a national housebuilder’s donation allowed a Cheshire-based charity to reach its £1,750 corporate fundraising target. Bovis Homes – part of the newly-formed Vistry Group – pledged £100 meaning the Cheshire Down’s Syndrome Support Group can better empower those with Down’s Syndrome to lead happy and fulfilling lives. The donation follows Bovis Homes’ headline sponsorship of the charity’s Ladies Evening last October, which included an opportunity to chat, shop and be pampered with stalls selling jewellery, bags, beauty products and other gifts. The event raised over £4,000. Louise MacRae, regional marketing manager at Bovis Homes, which has locations in Cheshire, said: “We’re so happy to help Cheshire Down’s Syndrome Support Group reach their target, this is a fantastic charity, doing vital work for families and those with Down’s Syndrome to help families across Cheshire and beyond reach their goals and live happy, fun-filled lives. “Bovis Homes supported the group in November and we had such a wonderful time sponsoring them and seeing the benefits of the rewarding work the charity does in changing perceptions and educating the wider community, that we really wanted to step in and assist again in any way we could.” Rebecca Goodier, fundraising and communications manager at the charity, said they were “over the moon” to have received the donation from Bovis Homes and reach their target. She said: “We’re delighted with this donation from Bovis Homes and to have achieved our corporate fundraising target. The money raised will be used to support people with Down’s syndrome in Cheshire and their families with training, events and resources to ensure they reach their potential and live the life they choose. Fundraising is especially difficult at the moment and we are very fortunate that companies such as Bovis Homes continue to do what they can to help small charities like ours.” Cheshire Down’s Syndrome Support Group are raising money through The Big Give, which means the total amount pledged by businesses will be match funded. Individuals can pledge their support by visiting the charity JustGiving page between 1st to 8th December. The charity will also hold a Christmas jumper day on Friday 4th December and are selling 2021 calendars with images of the families they support.
