A national housebuilder has raised £5,000 for mental health charity Mind following a charity golf day. Vistry Group’s Mercia region hosted the event at Shropshire Golf Centre in Telford, a short drive from the regional office in Dunston, for 76 attendees on Wednesday, 13th October. Christopher Evans, associate buying director at Vistry Mercia and keen golfer, organised the successful charity event. “It was fantastic day and we were so pleased with the turnout,” said Christopher. “After everything we’ve all been through the past 18 months, it was great to get so many of us together again for a round of golf, a few drinks and some food. “Everyone was able to relax and enjoy themselves in aid of a great cause.” Kicking off in the morning with breakfast buttys and coffees, 19 teams, which included Vistry colleagues, suppliers and subcontractors, took part with prizes for those placing first, second and third. There was also a two-course meal, raffle and auction. This is the second charity golf day organised by Christopher and his colleagues, with the first taking place in 2019. Due to coronavirus restrictions, the event wasn’t able to take place last year. Mind is a charity which provides advice and support to people experiencing mental ill-health, as well as campaigning to improve services and raise awareness. Emma Ihsan, head of corporate partnerships at Mind, said: “We are really grateful to Christopher, and to everyone at Vistry, for their ongoing support. “It continues to be a challenging time and many of us will be feeling the impact of the pandemic on our mental health and wellbeing, especially for those of us with existing mental health problems. One in four of us will experience a mental health problem in any given year, and it’s so important that no one has to face this alone. “Every donation that Mind receives allows us to campaign to improve services and provide information and support. This includes through services such as Mind Infoline, legal line and our online peer support community for adults, Side by Side, so we can be there for as many people who need us as possible.” Vistry Group has raised over £115,000 for Mind so far this year.
