Housebuilder supports swimming success in Wells

A local housebuilder was delighted to be involved in an annual event which saw more than 1,000 visitors from across the South West come to the City of Wells.

Bovis Homes sponsored the annual City of Wells Open Meet, which attracted hundreds of swimmers to compete in a series of races at Millfield School swimming pool.

“It was a fantastic occasion and we were delighted to support this year’s Open Meet,” says Alice Bukauskiene, regional marketing officer. “The event was brilliantly organised by Wells Swimming Club, which is a fantastic asset for the local community.”

The event, which took place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th April, welcomed over 1,000 visitors from across Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, as well as Wiltshire and South Wales. Open to swimmers from 9 years old to 15 and over, there were numerous races held throughout the weekend.

Neil Banwell, who helps to organise the event, said: “The annual City of Wells meet is one of the highlights of the swimming year for Wells Swimming Club and we were absolutely delighted to receive financial support from Bovis Homes this year.  Wells is a small community-based swimming club and this support by a company working locally to the club made a significant difference to the meet and to the swimmers involved.”

Wells Swimming Club utilises pool facilities across the local area and offers coaching from junior to master levels. It aims to support, nurture and guide swimmers of all ages and abilities to be the best swimmers they can be.

Bovis Homes has recently joined the Wells community with its Priory Fields location off Wookey Hole Road. Offering a variety of two, three and four-bedroom homes in a variety of styles, the new development has already attracted plenty of interest.
